One shot from bench

David had one shot (zero on goal) in Sunday's 1-0 win versus South Africa.

Analysis: David would enter the field with 20 minutes to play Sunday, appearing as a substitute. He would earn one shot on his few chances and would nearly find the back of the net, just driving the ball outside of the post. This comes after a goal in the last match, delivering a late consolation goal from the bench against the Swiss. He is yet to see a starting role this World Cup, earning one goal and an assist in his 65 minutes of play.

Nets in loss

David scored one goal to go with three shots (three on goal) in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Switzerland.

Analysis: David scored during Wednesday's loss, making the absolute most of his chances, and putting all three shots he took on net. The forward has been efficient throughout the tournament, and has arguably been Canada's best forward. He will be tested in a big way in the knockout stage, against top defenses in the world.

Assists on lone chance

David assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Friday's 1-1 draw versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Analysis: David created a single chance during Friday's draw, but it proved to be a big one, as he set up Cyle Larin for Canada's only goal of the match. David didn't do much more than that in the remainder of his time on the pitch and failed to really threaten when he did get on the ball. He will likely remain a bench option in the coming matches of the group stage.

Should be ready for June 12

David (hip) is expected to be included in Canada's World Cup squad as he's on track to return in the June 12 clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina, according to coach Jesse Marsch, Ben Steiner of Sports Illustrated reports.

Analysis: David will look to strengthen an injury-plagued Canadian team, joining Cyle Larin and Jonathan David in the attacking rotation. Still, it remains to be seen how many minutes the 24-year old will be able to play as he's initially projected to come off the bench. Before suffering the injury in February, he scored nine goals and one assist over 24 matches (17 starts) in the Belgian league, while adding two goals across seven UCL appearances.
